Moses is Cat Idol!

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

moses_cat_idol.jpgWell, there you have it… Moses has been crowned “Cat Idol.”

For those of you who haven’t got a clue what this is about, the fine folks at Wozog.com recently ran a Cat Idol competition. Up for grabs was $32 in prize money and a spot in the Wozog hall of fame. Moses was one of 22 kitties in the competition which ran from March 1st through the 19th. It was a tooth and nail battle, but in the end, Moses beat out Orlando to take the crown. You can read wozog’s interview with Moses here.

Moses would personally like to thank Cousin Jannette for all her hard work and email campaigning. Jan stepped in and led the charge when Mom had to deal with stuff after Papa Joe died on the 3rd. Moses would also like to thank Deimos Tel`Arin at Ahkong.net for his blog and Entre-community support.

The following was originally posted at my soon-to-be-retired blog, DogzNCatz.com, on February 21st, 2008.

Moses was a stray who I had picked up in North Buffalo. Actually, I’ll be honest with you… he was more like an abduction! I had been going to a friend’s house for a weekly meeting and week after week this cat would come up to me meowing his head off. He was all skin and bones and scraggly, so I’d asked my friend what was up with the cat? She replied that he was a street cat that she and a few neighbors had been feeding over the course of several months. I asked if he belonged to anybody, and she pointed to a house a few doors down across the street. She then told me that they just dumped him outside and more or less abandoned him to the streets. I had had an opportunity to pet the cat and underneath his fluff I could feel his spine the length of his back. So I said, “screw this, they don’t deserve the cat!” So I threw him in a cat carrier that I happened to have in the car (just that day, I had adopted out another one of my rescues, Petunia) and I took him home. moses_thumb_actionphoto1.jpg Will Moses be the next Cat Idol?

He seems to think so.

We had a chance to sit down with Moses and ask him how he felt about being in the top 5 of the Cat Idol competition at Wozog.com. After some head butting and a few quick rubs, Moses settled back into his orange and green Eames era chair from Amvets and shared his feelings about his sudden celebrity status,

“Meow, meow meow meow meow meow meow, meow meow meow meow meow meow meow,” he continued, “meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow. Meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow. Meow meow meow.”

When asked about the speculation that he was bisexual as published over at Wozog, he exclaimed, “Meow! *@#$%^! Meow meow… meow meow meow!”

Cat Idol is a daily elimination contest. Votes are tallied at the end of each day, and the cat with the fewest votes is kicked off. Up for grabs is $32 in prize money and a place in the Wozog Cat Hall of Fame.

You can vote for Moses everyday at www.wozog.com.
