25 Pounds Down, 65 More To Go
Monday, July 28th, 2008My last known weight before Joe died was 252#. I had weighed myself the Friday I’d left for the State Tournament (Feb 29th.) This past Saturday, after a good night’s sleep and about 28 trips to the bathroom, I weighed in at 227#.
Actually, I weighed that much about 2 weeks ago too, but didn’t mention it until I was sure it was real. My weight has been fluctuating a bit in the 229# to 232# range, I think due to water retention. I usually weigh more during the work week, then pee it out again on weekends!
The “diet” is going nowhere at the moment, but luckily I’ve still managed to lose a couple pounds and maintain it over the past few weeks. I never realized how dependent I was on having a vehicle. I haven’t really been able to shop, and since I live in the hood, the only “grocery” stores near me are those overpriced, outdated food, check cashing types. The closest family I have live 20 miles and 4 communities away from here, so I’m not gonna bother them to take me to get a loaf of bread and a gallon of milk….. so PIZZA it is, and has been, and probably be for awhile until I finally get the beast fixed.
I suppose the good news is that I have a somewhat physically demanding job, and I walk to and from work everyday. This seems to be the counter-balance to the pizza, wings, tacos, and subs I’ve been consuming. Not surprisingly, I’m retaining water in my ankles again. Gotta love that sodium!

My late husband Joe’s funky Walmart special shirt is still hanging where he left it in the back room of the house. I made him buy it!
Need Motivation To Get Out And Walk? Join The Alzheimer’s Memory Walk
Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008
In our self-centered-ness, we often come up with a plethora of excuses to not get out and exercise, after all, we reason that since we’re only affecting ourselves, then what does it matter to anyone else? Well, what if I told you that it does matter to somebody else? Right now, there are approximately 5 million Americans suffering from Alzheimer’s, and something as simple as you getting out the door and going for a walk can help make a difference in their lives and the lives of others.
The Alzheimer’s Memory Walk is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. Six hundred communities nationwide will hold a 2 to 3 mile walk on a weekend morning this fall. Volunteers and walkers are needed for this year’s event. You can join an existing team, or organize one in your community.

My Illustrious Blogging Career And Everything Entrecard
Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008
I’ve dabbled in blogging for personal entertainment for a couple years now, but it wasn’t until this past January that I discovered social networking. Funny thing is, I always thought of blogging as a personal online journal of sorts where somehow, someway, mysteriously, you could find people of similar interests. I used Wordpress.com for a few of my early blog creations, and while it was kinda fun, I never really took it seriously.
It wasn’t until the fall of 2007, after I ran into some financial hardship, that through a series of twists and turns, I discovered the MMO (Make Money Online) genre blog. And I thought, “Hot sh*t! I’m gonna make me some money!” Yeah right… me and about a million other people who don’t want to work for a living. I was gonna splog my way to instant riches and watch my Paypal account explode and gleefully greet the mailman as he delivered my Adsense checks. WhooHoo, hunny, time to quit yer day job, we’re goin’ on vacation!
In my quest for knowledge and fast money, I bought every ebook (with which of course, I was gonna make a mint re-selling on eBay!), signed up for every Get Rich Quick network (ClickBank, PayDotCom, Commission Junction, etc.), got myself one of those “free” Rich Jerk websites for $120, and started following every word of advice being spewed at me from all those experts who showed pictures of their checks and account balances. For the life of me, I don’t know where I read it, or if I just followed a widget from one of these blogs… I somehow stumbled upon Entrecard, and was introduced to the neverending universe of social networking.
